About
My name is Matt.
I am a tattoo artist and illustrator out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
I was born and raised in Northeast Arkansas, near Memphis.Art has always been my first love. I cannot remember a time when art didn't take up the largest space in my mind. I grew up obsessed with comic books. Fantasy came to me through tabletop roleplay, later on.
As the artist in my group, I became fascinated by character sketches and the ability to create something beautiful out of nothing but a blank piece of paper and a pen. Pen and ink have always been my favorite medium. The idea of sculpting a 3D shape out of black lines has always inspired me.I have always had a lifetime enjoyment of mythology, and history, and exploring other worlds through literature and cinema. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, painting, spending time with my wonderful family, and reading.I am a huge Transformers fan, if you're ever thinking about a birthday gift or an appropriate non-monetary tip. ;)I have been tattooing for 20+ years.I believe that tattooing is a service industry first and foremost and that my job as a tattooer is to help and guide you in creating the perfect ornament for your body.I also believe that everyone has the right to get a quality tattoo, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or social class.

Things to consider before booking:
______________
1.
Have a clear idea of what you want or what you're looking to get done. Knowing what you want sets an expectation for both of us as to what you're getting.
______________
2.
Do not be too affixed to reference. I enjoy creating art for you, that is yours and yours alone. If you're attached to the reference, it doesn't give room for expression. I am not saying I will not reproduce art if it is special to you. But if the subject is more important than the specific artwork, please work with me to make your tattoo as unique as you are.
______________
3.
I do require a deposit before setting appointments. The standard deposit is $150 to keep the appointment. This deposit will be deducted from the final price or final session of the tattoo. Unfortunately, deposits are non-refundable. If you need to cancel, consider rescheduling the appointment so that you don't lose that deposit.

I will allow one reschedule per appointment. If you wish to reschedule that appointment a second time, you will be asked for a second deposit. If you are not going to show up, even in the 48-hour window, please contact me to let me know. If you don't contact me, I will no longer work with you on further projects.Barring sudden emergencies, no call, no show will not be tolerated. Please understand that I am trying to be as fair as possible. FAQ
1.
Q: How long does a tattoo take?
A: A tattoo takes as long as it takes to make sure it's done correctly. I can generally guess at time based on size, color, amount of detail, etc. However, I prefer not to, because if it takes longer than I estimated, the process feels rushed to meet those time constraints.
__________
2.
Q: Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
A: Bringing A friend or two is perfectly okay. Bringing a party will get a little cramped. So, yes. Bring your bestie if it makes you more comfortable...but not the whole family.
__________
3.
Q: How should I dress?
A: Dress in something comfortable. The clothing needs to allow for access to the area I am tattooing.
For example: If you're getting a tattoo on your ribs, wearing a bathing suit top or a loose t-shirt that can be rolled up is probably for the best.
__________
4.
Q: As a male artist, how do you handle private areas?
A: My policy is to treat every client with respect and dignity. I take great pains to ensure privacy and comfort for my clients. If there are locking doors, I ensure they are locked. Security cameras are in the studio to keep all parties accountable. If you have a privacy concern, please bring a friend or bring concerns directly to me.
__________
5.
Q: Do you do piercings?
A: There is a piercer in the shop, but I do not do piercings.
__________
6.
Q: Do you take walk-ins?
A: At the moment, I do not take standard walk-ins, due to a typically full schedule. However, if you come by during business hours and I am not busy, I will happily tattoo you.
If I am busy, you're more than welcome to leave your name and contact, to get on a call/waiting list.
__________
7.
Q: I think I am going to be late. What do I do?
A: Please contact me and let me know you're running behind. My policy is that I give a 15-minute grace period, to allow for traffic or small inconveniences. If you're going to be later than that, it would be best to let me know.
If you're going to be more than an hour late, please contact me so that we can reschedule or make arrangements.__________8.
Q: I have been feeling under the weather. Should I still show up?
A: The short answer is: No.
During the tattoo, we will be close to one another for potentially hours. If you're sick, contact me and your deposit will not be lost. We will reschedule.
__________
9.
Q: What should I do to prepare for my appointment?
A: Please do not drink alcohol or take any type of over-the-counter blood thinner like Ibuprofen or Aspirin in the 24 hours leading up to your appointment.Keep out of the sun 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the appointment to avoid damage to the skin.
Get a good night of sleep the night before, eat a full breakfast/lunch/dinner, and drink tons of water before you show up. This will help with blood sugar issues and will also heighten your pain tolerance and lower the bleeding risk.__________10.
Q: What should I bring with me to my appointment?
A: Bring a government-issued photo ID (meaning a license, passport, state ID, military ID, etc).
School ID and Medicinal Marijuana cards will not be accepted.
If you do not have your ID, you will be asked to retrieve it and if that process will take more than an hour, you will be asked to reschedule. You should also bring any snacks, headphones, books, comfort items, etc. to help you get through the tattoo.__________11.
Q: Will you tattoo anyone under the age of 18?
A: No. In the state of Oklahoma, no one under the age of 18 may be tattooed...even with parental consent.__________12.
Q: Do you use any numbing cream or anesthetic?
A: I do not use numbing cream before the tattoo process. If you wish to use numbing cream, before, feel free to.
However, I do not provide or recommend any specific brand of numbing cream.
During the process, I use Bactine, if the pain seems to be reaching a threshold or if you request it. Bactine can numb the already-open tattoo a bit.
If you provide the numbing agent, I will happily apply it within reason.__________13.
Q: Do you use vegan products?
A: Yes. All of my products are vegan.__________14.
Q: Do you do coverups?
A: Yes I do.
Most tattoos can be covered. But expectations must be managed. If you're worried that your tattoo will be a problem, shoot me a photo through email and we can go from there.__________As always, if your question isn't covered here, do not hesitate to email me with specifics.
Aftercare
The main aftercare process and healing process should last about 2-4 weeks. It might take a little less or more time depending on the tattoo. Fine line heals quick and highly saturated tattoos can take longer. You can leave your bandage on for up to 2-3 days. Remove it in the shower after running warm water on it for a few minutes to losen up the adhesive. Wash the tattoo with soap and let it air dry.Clean your tattoo. Wash 3-4 times a day, using unscented dye free soap. Bar or liquid soap are both fine. Avoid applying the soap directly to the tattoo. Using your hands, get the soap sudsy and wash gently for about a minute. Rinse and air dry. Do not dry with hand towel. You can dab dry with a clean paper towel if you are in a hurry.Moisturize your tattoo. Your body heals the tattoo not the lotion. The lotion is for keeping your skin from drying out too much and keeping the healing tattoo more comfortable. After cleaning, apply unscented lotion. Apply very thin layer of lotion, your skin shouldn't be shiny. Less is more. I don't recommend petroleum based products, they are often applied too thickly and can suffocate the skin.Things to avoid while your tattoo is healing!Submerging your tattoo in water. Swimming, baths, hot tubs, saunas, etc. These WILL make your tattoo fade fast, heal poorly and greatly raises the risk of infection. Limit showers to 10 minutes. The sun. A sunburn will make your tattoo heal poorly. Do not put sunscreen on in the healing process, keep the tattoo covered by clothing. After it's healed use sunscreen as the sun will age the tattoo faster.Scratching/itching/picking. If you're itching, most likely, it's your skin drying out, use a small amount of lotion, and that should help, if not, a light tap, or a gentle rub sometimes works.Tight clothing. Tight clothes add extra friction and can rub off any potential scabs, irritate the skin. Loose light clothing over the tattoo is always recommended. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, and I'll happily answer any questions.
